My Event Street

My Event Street, a London based company, is a business consultancy specialising in services for events in fashion, education and hospitality

After initial discussions, My Event Street requested Black Geko Media to build a modern site with a clear homepage for locating services offered. The site was designed to be very unique to the business and portrays the three key areas of the services beautifully as a slideshow on the landing page.

Phase two of the website will involve creating a membership area for My Event Street clients.

The site design was built to adapt to phones and tablets, providing the best possible customer experience, whatever the screensize.

So what was My Event Street’s feedback?

“We started My Event Street to try and solve some basic problems in the event consultancy arena, where small to medium sized businesses struggle to access a wide range of resources – at an affordable price. Being one of only a handful of consultancies offering this service, the web design and functionality had to meet the growing needs the business will have over the coming years. Sarah and the team at Black Geko Media really helped us through the design process to allow for our business to scale up in the way it needs to, and really supported the fact that it wasn’t just a run of the mill website.

“We chose Black Geko Media as their previous work really highlights the growing trend towards individuality and functionality that can grow as we do. Also, as with any design process, minds change and Sarah really understood this need to enable us to have the first steps of what our website is now. The overall experience was made into such an easy experience – we are really looking forward to working with the team again!”

Red Ensign

Red Ensign is the largest independent yacht broker in the South West based in Falmouth, Cornwall

Red Ensign wished to create a slick new listings website to showcase their range of boats for sale. For simplicity, the boats were divided into four different categories on the homepage to help customers find what they are looking for in a quick, easy way.

The new search facility allows Red Ensign’s customers to easily find boats by model, price, boat type or length. We also built in a panoramic feature to allow potential buyers take a tour of the inside of certain boats.

Another new feature to this website is the option of being able to compare various boats for sale at the same time, and save boats as ‘favourites’ in a customer login panel.

The website was designed to adapt well to phones and tablets in order to provide a seamless view of the website no matter which device is used.

Fiddle and Faff

Fiddle and Faff are a musical duo based in Kent.

They wanted a site that reflected their folk-style music – something very natural and visual.  They needed to be able to easily display events, update a ‘scrapbook’ album and add snippets of their songs to the site.

As there wasn’t a lot of content, and to keep the site as visual as possible, we went for a one-page, scrolling website with Parallax backgrounds of woodland scenes and bluebells.  The site has a quirky, friendly feel to it, which the duo felt reflected their music and personalities perfectly.

So what was Fiddle and Faff’s feedback?

“We are absolutely delighted at the website that Sarah has created for us.  As a folk duo, we wanted something that would express visually the sound that we create and that is quite a difficult thing to imagine, let alone to interpret.  We gave Sarah some vague ideas about woodlands and bluebells and she has created a site for us that we have been told looks ‘gorgeous and sumptuous’.  Other people have said how much the site reflects the people that we are and the music that we make, and so that is just perfect!

Sarah has been endlessly patient and helpful in interpreting our ideas, and then using her own professional skills to suggest a fantastic responsive layout and easy to use audio buttons that look really funky too!  We cannot recommend her more highly.”

Cameron Lewnes

Cameron Lewnes provide high-quality financial advice for clients all over the UK.

They wanted a site that reflected the responsibility they take on behalf of their clients, but wanted to steer away from the stuffy, dark sites that seemed popular with other businesses in the financial sector.  They also wanted to use the four colours in their existing logo to relate to the four key areas of their business.

With this in mind we Black Geko Media built a responsive WordPress site, with funky bootstrap animation functionality on the homepage to relate the logo colours to the four sections.  We kept the site clean, bright and family-orientated – using bright, flat colours to bring the site to life.

So what was Cameron Lewnes’ feedback?

“I am delighted with the way the site looks so great job well done. ”

Marine Designs

Marine Designs manufacture revolutionary concrete pontoons for the offshore wind industry.

They needed a new brochure design which easily talked clients through their product’s key selling points, whilst also looking sleek and appealing.  We designed a 12 page landscape brochure on thick 190gm paper, adding a glossy laminate finish to outside of the front and back covers to give durability and a high-end finish.

DA Lindsay and Sons

DA Lindsay and Sons are a family funeral firm based in Croydon, Surrey.

They approached Black Geko Media wanting a new, more modern website but also a site which reflected their traditional family heritage.

We used a WordPress responsive template to build them a bright yet respectful website using a revolution slider to grab attention on the homepage, and we’re pleased with the final result.
